The Artist

Argentinian pianist Tomás Alegre began his musical journey in Buenos Aires before pursuing studies with Nelson Goerner in Geneva and Dmitri Bashkirov in Madrid – a dream he was able to realize thanks to the support from Martha Argerich. This then initiated a series of important performances, which culminated in him receiving the Distinción de Honor awarded by Queen Sofía of Spain, the Gian Andrea Lodovici Prize recording in Fazioli Concert Hall and performing under the baton of András Schiff.

Other distinctions include Third Prize at the Dinu Lipatti International Piano Competition in Romania and prizes at the Manhattan International Music Competition and Muse Classics International Music Competition. Mr Alegre has also performed at the Teatro alla Scala and Serate Musicali in Milan, Teatro Real in Madrid, Liszt Academy in Budapest and the RSI’s Auditorio Stelio Molo in Lugano.

He made his North American debut in November 2024 in a concert tour that included, among others, the prestigious Salle Bourgie of Montreal. Following an appearance at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, he was hailed by critics for his “direct expressivity moulded with a goldsmith’s subtle touch […] he possesses an expressiveness that reveals the true essence of what he performs.”
