The Artists
Named for their roots on both sides of the Atlantic, London-based Trio Thalassa are a dynamic ensemble comprising postgraduate alumni of the Royal Academy of Music: American pianist Andrew Zhao, British violinist Juri Uchishiba and American cellist Aria Posner. Trio Thalassa are winners of the Historical Women Composers Prize at the Royal Academy of Music, and were highly commended, placing third, in the Academy’s Harold Craxton Prize.
The trio were selected for the 2024/25 Hans Keller Forum and participated in their residencies in Cambridge, working with Alisdair Beatson, Donald Grant and John Myerscough. They have also worked with artists including James Sleigh, Robert Cohen and members of the Castalian and Barbican String Quartets. The trio made their recital debut with Rebecca Clarke’s Piano Trio and Beethoven’s Piano Trio, Op 1 No 1, at the RAM Summer Piano Festival.
Recent engagements have included recitals at RAM and Charlton House featuring Schubert’s Piano Trio No 2, a recital for the Intermezzo concert series at the New North London Synagogue, as well as other performances throughout London and Cambridge.
