The Artist
Originally from Edinburgh, Veronica Henderson read Music at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, having won both a Choral Exhibition and an Instrumentalist Award. She then specialised in the cello at the Royal Academy of Music in London with David Strange. She continued her studies with Joan Dickson and William Pleeth.
Based in Cambridge for nearly forty years teaching cello, Veronica also performs as a soloist and chamber musician, often revisiting her native Scotland. She has played for the Cambridge Szeged Society, and has toured with Cambridge Voices, performing Carl Rütti’s ‘Lieder der Liebe’ for solo cello and choir, and the oratorio, ‘Verena, die Quelle’, both of which they premiered. Their recordings are available on the Herald label.
Her concerto and recital repertoire covers all the mainstream works. Locally she has played many times for the Cambridge Summer Recitals and at the series for All Saints’ Church, Jesus Lane and at Downing Place. Currently she leads the cello section in Cambridge’s Sampson Orchestra and has been performing most recently in recital programmes with the Scottish-Polish pianist, Elizabeth Mucha.
