The Artists
Versa Winds is a vibrant and versatile group made up of four dynamic young musicians: Louisa Kataria, Lydia Cochrane, Alex Dani and Ethan Townsend. Formed in 2020 during their studies at the Royal College of Music, the group made their debut performance at the RCM Chamber Music Festival. They were later invited to give further performances as part of the RCM Wind Ensemble, and a recital at St Mary The Boltons Church.
The quartet has recently been awarded an RCM Accelerate Grant to support them in launching their vision of becoming a multi-instrumental, cross-genre chamber group. Each member is trained in classical and jazz disciplines, and on saxophone, flute and clarinet, which translates into a rich and diverse repertoire for which the quartet is already known. They are passionate about showcasing the multitude of genres available to the saxophone, from Bach to Desenclos to Gershwin, as well as pushing the boundaries by introducing multi-instrumental ensembles. They believe this fluid format brings a fresh and exciting quality to the chamber music scene.
Versa Winds looks forward to a busy Autumn Season featuring recitals at St James’s Piccadilly and Ampthill Music Festival.
