The Artist

Zach Brandman is a 19-year-old British pianist studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Ronan O’Hora. Previously, Zach attended Westminster School where he was a music scholar. He was awarded Young Musician of the Year at the Stratford Music Festival 2020 and has won prizes at both national and international level. Zach has performed at concert halls in the UK as well as in Europe and Asia. At the age of 16, Zach was awarded the Una Clark Young Artist Jellinek award and was selected to perform Schumann’s piano concerto in A minor with the Guildford Symphony Orchestra. He was also recently appointed as Musician in Residence at St Mark’s English Church, Florence, Italy from Spring 2019.

Zach began learning the piano at the age of six at the London Russian Music Academy. At the age of eight, he was selected to appear with Lang Lang at the Royal Festival Hall and at nine, he first performed with orchestra. He was awarded first prize in the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition, third prize in the New Stars International Music Competition and third prize at the Young Pianist of the North International competition at the age of ten. Since then, Zach has performed in a number of major concert venues including the Cadogan Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Royal Albert Hall, Jacqueline du Pré building, the Britten Theatre and the Duke’s Hall at the Royal Academy of Music.

Zach has been invited to perform solo recitals in Cheltenham – where he received a standing ovation for his performance for the Festival – and at Pushkin House, London as well as in the Conservatoire Concert series at South Hill Park, Bracknell. In 2018 Zach was shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society Duet prize. In November 2019, Zach was selected by the Zubin Mehta Foundation to perform a recital at the NCPA, Mumbai, India as part of their Rising Stars concert series.

During the pandemic, Zach has recorded two studio albums which will be available on most streaming platforms. He will be touring these albums through 2021, circumstances permitting.
