St Bride’s Choir and the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music
London Festival of Contemporary Church Music 2026: Friday 8th – Sunday 17th May
We are delighted to be part of this year’s London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, a celebration of living composers and vibrant new sacred music across the capital.
Music is central to our life here at St Bride’s – and this May, two of our Sunday choral services performed by St Bride’s Choir and Organist under our Director of Music, Robert Jones, form part of the festival.
Both services are free to attend and are followed by refreshments.
Choral Eucharist, Sunday 10th May, 11:00am
The first performance at St Bride’s of the Missa syllabica by the organist and award-winning composer Nicholas O’Neill.
The anthem – also a St Bride’s debut – is a setting of the Easter sequence Victimae paschali laudes by Philip Lawson, who was a former member of the King Singers and their principal arranger for many years.

Choral Evensong, Sunday 17th May, 5:30pm
Philip Moore’s wonderful set of Preces & Responses are a regular feature at St Bride’s. Moore was Organist and Master of the Music at York Minster for over twenty years. In 2016 the Archbishop of Canterbury awarded him the Cranmer Award for Worship “for his contribution to the English choral tradition as a composer, arranger and performer.”
Errollyn Wallen was appointed Master of the King’s Music in 2024. Her Evening Service for Westminster Abbey is receiving its first performance at St Bride’s as part of the festival.
Composer and soprano, Helen Neeves is a former member of St Bride’s Choir and now a BBC Singer. Her music is a regular part of our repertoire. This setting of Hail gladdening light is another premiere.
