Matthew Dunn began his organ studies aged 15 at Crompton House School, Shaw, under the direction of Jack Pickford, having already gained his DipABRSM at the piano.

In 2006 he won a place to read music at Peterhouse, Cambridge's oldest college, and with it the organ scholarship, which he held for four years: first as Junior Organ Scholar, then Senior and finally as Graduate Organ Scholar. At this time Matthew was studying organ under David Sanger, then president of the Royal College of Organists.
As well as the regular chapel services, Matthew oversaw and performed in numerous cathedral visits including services at Westminster Abbey, Canterbury Cathedral and Ely Cathedral. Matthew also partook in multiple choir tours including trips to Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the midlands.

In 2010 Matthew graduated from Cambridge with his second degree, the MPhil, having researched the dissemination of French medieval polyphony in England.
