Funeral: Simon Clark

A funeral service for Simon Paul Harland Clark will take place at St Bride’s Church, on Thursday 15th September at 11:30am.

According to Barrie Stacey in the infamous Ticket to the Carnival, Simon Clark was “an excellent character actor who looked something like an amiable bulldog”.

He was, of course, so much more besides. His wonderful speaking and bass/baritone singing voice, his talent for accents and his understanding of nuance and stagecraft enabled him to tread the boards for the best part of 40 years in musicals, comedies, straight plays, pantomime, Shakespeare, light operas, English theatre abroad and showcases.

Clark bravely fought kidney disease throughout his life, eventually going on to peritoneal- then haemodialysis, but never losing his stoicism or humour. He was admitted to Homerton Hospital, East London with an infection on 29th July and passed away peacefully shortly thereafter.
