Memorial: Joe Saumarez Smith

A service of thanksgiving for the life of Joe Saumarez Smith will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Monday 19th May at 11:30am.
Joe Saumarez Smith was Chairman of the British Horseracing Authority, the regulator of UK horse racing. He was initially a journalist for numerous titles including the Racing Post, the Financial Times, The Times and the Sunday Express, before founding Sports Gaming, a management consultancy to the gaming industry, in 2001.
Saumarez Smith joined the BHA in 2014 and engaged with both Government and the racing and betting industries to ensure that British horseracing remained an attractive avenue for inward investment.
