Memorial: Peter Fowler

A service of thanksgiving for the life of Peter Fowler will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Thursday 22nd May at 11:30am.

Peter Fowler was a regional newspaper publisher, owning numerous titles across the Highlands of Scotland. He realised that the survival of such newspapers was only likely to be secured by grouping together several independently-owned entities under one publisher.

Fowler was approached in the early 2000s by then Rector of St Bride’s, Canon David Meara, to lead an appeal to secure the future of St Bride’s Church, a task he took on with relish and spirit.

The subsequent success of the appeal – raising over £3.5 million – has enabled St Bride’s to flourish to this day.
