Thanksgiving service for the life of Paul Callan, journalist at the Daily Mail, the Daily Express, and the Daily Mirror, among other newspapers, who died on 21st November, 2020.

The Times described Callan as a “Fleet Street all-rounder and model for Private Eye’s Lunchtime O’Booze whose scoops included Kray confessions and two words from Garbo” in his obituary.

Daily Mirror editor Alison Phillips said: “Paul was a legend of the Mirror newsroom. A master of the written word who covered some of the biggest stories of his generation, he was also a friend and mentor to younger reporters. He will always be remembered and very much missed.”

Whilst former editor Piers Morgan commented: “Paul was a wonderful writer whose copy always sizzled with great flair. He was also one of the great characters in Fleet Street history, a fabulous raconteur and enormously good fun at any social gathering. The Daily Mirror was hugely enriched by his journalism and his presence in the newsroom.”
