Memorial: Stephen Bacon

A service of thanksgiving for the life of Stephen Bacon will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Wednesday 15th October at 11:30am.

Bacon was a media lawyer, working for the Express stable, where he advised editors and reporters on national and regional titles, across print and digital platforms, from 1971 until 2011, after which he undertook locum work for The Times, Sunday Times and The Sun.

Amongst several notable cases, Bacon headed a legal probe that led to Lord Archer being convicted of perjury in 2001, having initially won a £500,000 libel settlement from the Daily Star fifteen years earlier.
