A service of thanksgiving for the life of Jeremy Alexander will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Wednesday 20th September at 11:30am.
Alexander worked on the sports desk at The Guardian for an extraordinary 57 years, covering twelve Football World Cups.
Having excelled at football, cricket and athletics at school and at Oxford University, Alexander’s first job was as a sub-Editor at The Field magazine, where he soon began a weekly column.
For many years he work at both The Field and The Guardian which he joined in 1966 and where he continued to work into his eighties.
