Memorial: John Bryant

A service of thanksgiving for the life of John Bryant will take place at St Bride’s, the Journalists’ Church, on Thursday 28th April at 3pm.

Having begun his career at the Edinburgh Evening News, Bryant became Executive Editor of the Daily Mail in the 1980s, before moving to The Times in 1986 as Managing Editor and then Deputy Editor.

After stints editing the Sunday Correspondent and European, he was hired as Editor of the Daily Telegraph in 2005.

A successful athlete and coach, Bryant was instrumental in developing the London Marathon with Chris Brasher, and ran 24 marathons himself, the last in 2016 on the eve of his 72nd birthday.
