A service of thanksgiving for the life of journalist Roly Gribben will take place at St Bride’s Church, the Journalists’ Church, on Thursday 30th June at 11:30am.
Roly Gribben was the Daily Telegraph’s long-serving finance and business reporter, who began his journalistic career as sports reporter on the Hexham Courant and worked for the Lancashire Evening Post in Kendal before joining the Telegraph’s northern edition in 1963. Upon moving to the City office in London, Gribben covered the decline of manufacturing industries and the union-management struggles in the public sector in the 1960s and 70s, and the privatisation of those industries in the 1980s.
After a stint as business editor, Gribben continued to work for the Telegraph until his 80th birthday in 2015, offering help and advice to younger colleagues.
