Shortly after his first guitar lessons at the age of twelve, Pavel Ralev was accepted to study under Milena and Valentin Valtchev at the National School of Music and Dance Arts 'Dobrin Petkov' in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, graduating with the Principal's Diploma for high musical achievement. He went on to study in the class of Prof. Michael Lewin at the Royal Academy of Music on a full-fees scholarship and is currently studying towards a Master's degree at the University of Surrey with guitarist-composer Prof. Stephen Goss. Pavel is the winner of several prizes, most recently the first prize of the London Strings Competition 2018, and is a Licentiate of the ABRSM.

Pavel has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned guitarists such as Fabio Zanon, David Russell, Marcin Dylla, and George Vassillev to name a few. He has also performed live for both the Bulgarian National Radio and Television, and in venues such as St James's Piccadilly, Bulgarian National Opera, Duke's Hall at the RAM and the House of Commons. His opera debut was in June 2019 at Longhope Opera in Hampshire with the Scherzo Ensemble's production of Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville'. Future engagements include a solo appearance at the London Strings Festival and the public debut of the Metropolitan Guitar Quartet at the University of Surrey (with Giacomo Susani, Emmanuel Sowicz and Michael Butten).

As a teacher Pavel enjoys a busy schedule, both privately and in various schools and organisations, in addition to leading masterclasses. He plays guitars by Stephen Eden.
