On Friday 24th February, 2017, at 11am a funeral service for Albert Foster was held at St Bride's Church, Fleet Street.

The Revd Canon Dr Alison Joyce delivered the opening:-

Loving God, as we remember before you this day,
Albert, whom we love but see no longer. We give thanks for a much-loved husband, colleague and friend. We remember a man who lived for his work; who was always full of ideas. A man who loved the sunshine,
and who had a passion for motorcycle racing; A man of great character, who was wonderful company, A man with a great sense of fun, who bore his final illness with courage and steadfastness, and without complaint.

Heavenly Father, we ask your blessing upon Albert. Now that he is free from all the troubles and frailties of this life, grant him happiness and peace forever in your presence, reunited with those whom he has loved
who have travelled that path before him.

We pray for all who feel the pain of Albert's passing - remembering especially at this time his loving and much loved wife, Sue, and for all who share her sense of loss.  God of compassion, surround us all with your love at this difficult time, and help us to know your comfort and your peace.

Psalm 23 read Jo Marsh

Read text...

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Epitaph on a friend read Vincent Connolly by Robert Burns

Read text...

An honest man here lies at rest,
The friend of man, the friend of truth,
The friend of age, the guide of youth;
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d;
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.
