Charitable Giving at St Bride's

Charitable Giving.jpgSt Bride's Guildsman, David Kitchen MBE (5/3/1942-19/8/2005) loved music, and a recital of British Music was held at St Bride's back in August to remember him, and also to raise funds for St James' School Zongoro in Zimbawe; thank you to all that came and helped raise £731 towards David's favourite charity.

A whopping £883 was raised at our Macmillan Coffee Morning! Our heart warming thanks go to all the volunteers, the Guildsmen that braved the rain and to our member of the congregation, Melanie Miller Thomas, for taking the task to organised the event.

Our annual QuizAid in support of Christian Aid raised £309.21!  A stirling effort from the five teams who battled each other with good humour and sportsmanship.

The teams were made up of a mixture of all ages and experiences and we all enjoyed plenty of food and drink along with good company and a few laughs. The winning team, 'Verging on the Ridiculous', was made up of past and present vergers with a few choir members thrown in for good measure.

The teams in ascending order were;

5. Ministry of Internal Affairs

4. Flash Gordon's Six

3. Follow me (The Tour Guides)

2. Team Russell

1. Verging on the Ridiculous

The winning team would normally have included the Rector but Alison was away flying the flag for us at the London Press Club awards.

Next year, the Quiz will revert to May, the month in which Christian Aid week is held. Watch out for more information on this early next year.
