St Bride's painting goes on display

stalbans.jpgOver its long and proud history, St Bride's Church has been the subject of artists - both amateur and professional - from near and far. The latest painting, showing the exterior of the Wren church looking east to west, and painted towards the end of a spring day, features in a special exhibition being held in the refectory of that great mediaeval cathedral in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

The exhibition shows the diversity of painting in acrylic, with its vivid, lively and brilliantly colourful tones, demonstrated in the St Bride's painting by Guildsman Edward Bevin, who shares the exhibition with Ron Heartfield. They are both taught by local professional artist John May, whose work is widely acclaimed in the art world.

Landscapes and paintings of other historical buildings, such as Worcester Cathedral on the banks of the river Severn, are on display until the end of October.
