St Bride's: News

Congratulations to Jeff, and welcome to Mark!

ordination.jpgIt was with great delight that a group of us from St Bride's went to support our Assistant Curate, the Revd Dr Jeff Lake, at his ordination to the Priesthood on 26th June, at St Stephen's, Rochester Row.

Jeff Lake was ordained priest by The Rt Revd Nigel Stock, Bishop at Lambeth, Bishop to the Armed Forces and Bishop to the Falkland Islands. It was an occasion of great joy and the solemnity as Jeff and three other candidates from the Two Cities Deanery took their vows and were welcomed to the priesthood.  Jeff was very well supported by members of the parish and from his sending church in Sussex.

Jeff celebrated the Eucharist for the first time at our morning service on 3rd July, and was presented with a hand-made ceramic communion set as a gift from St Bride's.  It is wonderful to have Jeff as part of our team, and his continuing ministry here is very warmly appreciated.

It is with great pleasure that we look forward to welcoming to St Bride's in September the Revd Mark Fox.  Like Jeff, Mark is a self-supporting minister who (conveniently!) works in Fleet Street, and who has served his curacy at St Margaret, Lothbury.  Mark has had a fascinating career that has encompassed, amongst other things, journalism, politics and the Royal Navy!  He is currently Chief Executive of the Business Services Association.  It will be great to have him on board!
