Fleet Street Olympic Festival


On Sunday 22nd July St Bride's will begin a fantastic week of Olympian musical celebration and activities.

Our Festal Choral Eucharist setting will be Anton Bruckner's Mass in E, with the St Bride's choir accompanied by members of the woodwind and brass of the St Bride's Orchestra.

Five 'Canticles' by Benjamin Britten

Inspired by writers including the 17th century Royalist poet Francis Quarles, The Chester Miracle Plays, Edith Sitwell and T.S. Elliot, these five Canticles span Benjamin Britten's composing life and career. Aria, mini-drama, variation, duet, trio, and each with different instrumentation for accompaniment - these works provide a true pentathlon of music and song from the British master.

Come and celebrate our own 'Queen of the Sopranos' Silver Jubilee year. Accompanied by the St. Bride's Orchestra, Claire will be joined by colleagues and friends in a concert celebrating her special vocal contribution to the music at St Bride's. With music including Mozart's Exultate jubilate, Puccini's O mio babbino caro, Delibes' Flower Duet, Britten's Embroidery aria, Mascagni's Easter Hymn and Verdi's Brindisi, this will be a night to remember.
