Pancake Party Review

Beautiful bouquet Simnel Cake

Tuesday's Pancake Party was a great success!

A candlelit dinner for four was auctioned, anthems were requested and friendly rivalry broke out over the chance to go on a guided cycle tour of London with a popular member of the congregation. A beautiful Simnel Cake was raffled for £73, and three lucky bidders saw their window boxes beautified. One brave soul won a tour of London on a Vespa while others opted to bid for a more sedate walking tour of Lewes with lunch thrown in. We can expect magnificent oratory from our readers after several people bid for Public Speaking coaching sessions with an acknowledged expert in the field.

All in all, the evening raised over £2,500, a tremendous effort towards the Inspire! Appeal.

Many thanks to all the generous donors of pledges and prizes and especially to Valerie Locks and Peter Silver for serving, and Steve Rumbles who made nearly 100 pancakes and selflessly ate all of the 'failed' ones in the interest of quality control.
